Looking Back: ‘Do you remember Ratners, Zodiac Toys and Pickfords Travel in Peterborough?’
The first picturee shows Bridge Street lit up with Christmas displays.
Note the saplings which today are full grown trees.

“On the far left of the picture you can just make out a couple perhaps planning a holiday at Pickfords travel agents.

Hide Ad“Other shops you can see are Lavells newsagents, Ratners jewellers – closed after Gerald’s speech! – Zodiac toys, Peter Lords shoes, Eastern Electric, WH Smiths, Halfords, Marks & Spencer and Woolies.”
In the black and white picture of Cathedral Square you can see Whittons Bakers Oven, Paige Shoes and Hepworths.
In the square itself there are the old flowerbeds.
The last picture is another of Cathedral Square decked out in style - in the days when it used to host five trees!
