Current form: I have been a Posh fan since about 1991 and I remember my first away game was at Derby County when we came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at the Baseball Ground. I was a season ticket holder for about five years before joining the club, initially as an editorial assistant five-and-a-half years ago. I am now the club press officer and have to deal with people like Alan Swann on a daily basis.
Pre-match: Myself and my flatmate left Bretton at around 10am and it was an interesting journey, mainly because my flatmate was suffering from the night before. As the journey progressed he began to remember more from the previous evening and soon the jigsaw puzzle was complete. Arrived at the stadium at around 12.30, parked up and went in search of fish and chips.

You can't go to Grimsby without having fish and chips (dad take note) and they didn't disappoint, living up to my expectations. Following lunch, we headed into Cleethorpes and watched the first half of Man Utd v Chelsea with the masses of Posh fans. Made my way back to the ground just after 2pm and realised the walk was a lot longer than I thought.

Took my seat in the press box.

First-half report: The first 20 minutes or so were fairly uneventful and theposh.com half-time report was expected to be fairly short, but Posh soon clicked into gear and scored through Aaron Mclean after great work from Tom Williams down the left. Posh deserved their lead and with the pressure off in the second half, I was confident goals would follow. Disappointing news from Bradford though as MK Dons took a 2-1 lead and would be playing 10-men in the second period so the title was looking unlikely.

Atmosphere: It was a carnival atmosphere that was created by the 1,200 Posh supporters behind the goal and they never stopped singing from the first whistle to the last. I saw numerous people in fancy dress, plenty of inflatables and a lot of dancing.

Full-time report: It turned out to be probably the best away day for many years and it was a pleasure to be able to report on it. Posh played some delightful football and completely outclassed The Mariners and at times it was men against boys.

I thought Williams was excellent throughout. It was great to see Alfie Potter get 30 minutes to shine on the right-hand side of midfield and he showed great promise. I thought Dean Keates put in another fine display.

At the final whistle, Grimsby fans spilled onto the pitch and the police made sure they were not allowed anywhere near the jubilant Posh supporters who also entered the field of play.

Swanny's match report: We are the real champions - Grimsby 1, Posh 4

POST MATCH: I headed down to the dressing room area to get Darren Ferguson ready for the post-match interviews with Mclean and Potter also put forward for the media.

It was certainly a bit more relaxed than the previous week at Hereford United where I was doused in beer following wild celebrations at the final whistle.

Alan Green wittering on about various referee blunders on BBC Five Live was the background noise on the way home to Peterborough and I was back home just after 8pm.

If I hadn't been at the match: I am always at every Posh match through work and if I wasn't working for the club I would have been in amongst the fans behind the goal urging them to download Posh We Are and get the song into the top 40. Visit www.poshweare.co.uk to do so.
