City council issues warning of scam targeting Peterborough residents

Peterborough City Council are warning residents of a scam artist claiming to be from the authority making bogus phone calls.

A spokesman for the council said: “We have had reports of bogus callers claiming to be from the city council asking about an accident you may have had, this is not a genuine call.

“Don’t give out personal details. If you receive a call claiming to be from us and are in any doubt, call 01733 747474.

“If you get a call from 0208 000 0100 claiming to be from the council - hang up. It is a scam.”
