Peterborough woman accused of throwing used sanitary towel at detective faces trial

A woman has been charged with assaulting a police officer after a detective in Peterborough had a used sanitary towel thrown at them.

Lucy Hutchinson, 38, was arrested at her home in Lincoln Road on Thursday (4 February) in connection with a burglary and theft of a bicycle.

She was further arrested following an incident in custody whereby a police officer had a used sanitary towel thrown at them.

Hutchinson was charged with assaulting an emergency worker and theft of a bicycle.

She appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (6 February) where she denied the assault but admitted the theft and breach of a community order.

She was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and must complete a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR), but has been bailed to appear at the same court for a trial on 4 March in regards to the assault.
