A pub owner who was the last person to speak to a couple before they were killed in a crash has described them as “lovely people”.

Huw Edwards, who runs the Ty’n Llan (The Harp Inn), Llandwrog near Caernarfon - close to where the accident happened - was chatting to the pair as they enjoyed a meal.

Huw said: “I was chatting to them for about 20 minutes, they were a lovely couple, really friendly.

“They had been staying at a caravan park in Pontllyfni and I think they said they were going home the next day.

The lady was a retired teacher, originally from Carmarthen, she spoke fluent Welsh.

“The man was from North Wales and did something to do with music.”

Huw added: “I was very sad when I heard they had been killed in the accident. It is a dangerous piece of road, especially near the junction.

“They were so lovely, my thoughts go out to their friends and family.”
