Coronavirus: Large percentage rise in confirmed cases in Peterborough

There has been a large percentage rise in the number of confirmed cases of people with the coronavirus in Peterborough.

The total rose from 62 to 80 in a single day - an increase of 29 per cent.

It then rose by another five yesterday to reach 85.

The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust confirmed earlier this week that 21 patients had now died at Peterborough City Hospital, and a further 13 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, since March 24.

In the UK, there have been a total of 65,077 confirmed cases for Covid-19, with 7,978 deaths.

In the past 24 hours, there were 4,344 more confirmed cases with 881 deaths.

In Cambridgeshire, 290 people have been diagnosed with the virus.

In Northamptonshire, the figure is 547 while in Lincolnshire it is 363.
