Police helicopter goes up in Peterborough after report of body near rail line

The police helicopter was sent up in Peterborough this afternoon following a report of a body near the rail line close to Stanground Lock.

A large emergency presence was sent to the scene, but after an extensive search nothing was found and the area has now been cleared.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: “Officers were called to the line in Peterborough at 1.14pm following a report of a possible body seen close to the tracks.

“Officers quickly attended supported by colleagues from the National Police Air Service, and a full search of the area was conducted. Thankfully, nothing was found, however, the report was made in good faith.”
