EU Referendum - Last word on leave from MEP Patrick O'Flynn

Today, the people of Peterborough can make history by voting for Britain to leave the EU and take back control of our money, our laws and our borders.

It is a very important vote for democracy. One that will benefit your children, your grandchildren and the many generations to come.

We have heard all the desperate scaremongering stories from Cameron and his ailing Remain team. Well let’s address that now. The world will not end on June 24th the day after we vote to leave the EU.

Our economy, the fifth largest in the world, will not collapse like the Eurozone economies of Greece and Spain. Our vibrant economy will prosper and we’ll be free to trade with whomever we like. We’ll be able to trade once again with our Commonwealth. We’ll be able to trade with the rest of the world freely on our own terms, and of course we’ll be able to trade with the EU.

Germany will be very keen to secure trade deals with the UK to continue selling us Mercedes, BMWs and Volkswagens. France won’t want their biggest export market for champagne (30.8 million bottles) stopped from trading with the UK.

Once we leave the EU we can regain control of our borders and decide who gets into our great country. An increased border security force together with an Australian style points system immigration policy will fairly decide who is allowed into the UK on visas.

This will enable us to fill the positions we have a shortage of homegrown skills for and stop the benefit tourism that so blights our country.

National security will be improved and it will make the UK a much safer place.

We’ll be able to protect the NHS from the ravages of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership deal that Brussels will implement with the US if we vote to remain in the EU. TTIP would give US based corporate giants the right to bid on NHS healthcare contracts and sue the NHS if they did not get them. The £10 billion a year net membership fees we pay to be a member of the Brussels club could be far better used to make our NHS flourish. By leaving the EU we can make sure that our children and grandchildren will not have to serve in a European Army commanded by foreign generals and sent to fight in wars that have nothing to do with the UK. This is just one of a number of insidious plans the EU has put on hold until after the referendum so as not to be detrimental to the Remain vote. Leaving the EU on June 23rd will give the UK our freedom back, freeing us from the relentless EU interference in our everyday lives. The UK has only been a member of the EU and its associations for 43 years. We have survived as a proud nation for millennia without it, so take back your freedom and vote for your independence day on June 23rd.
