The Mayor of Whittlesey has been re-elected for a second year.

Cllr David Mason will remain as mayor and leader of the town council, while Cllr Dee Laws will remain as deputy.

Following the vote, Cllr Mason said: “The past year has been very challenging but, despite the disruption caused by Covid and the town clerk being sidelined at one point for six weeks following surgery, the council has continued to function satisfactorily with all council and committee meetings being conducted remotely via Zoom.

“Regular events in the town such as Remembrance Day, VJ Day, Citizen of the Year and Allotment Winners have been carried in a more abbreviated physical form but, nonetheless, respectfully.

“The main regret has been the total lack of civic functions throughout the year but, hopefully, the coming year will see Whittlesey Town Council represented in the adjoining boroughs and counties as before.

“My thanks go to all who have supported me during the past year and I look forward to their continued support during the ensuing year.”
