SPALDING MURDER: School mourns for student
Police officers visited the school in Neville Avenue, Spalding, on Monday morning to speak to students, including those in Year 8 who knew and studied with 13-year-old Katie.
Head of academy Will Scott said: “Our school community has seen the tragic loss of one of our Year 8 students and our thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with friends and family at this time.

“This is a very rare occurrence and it is important, as a community, that we avoid speculation at this time and assist the police with their enquiries.”
Meanwhile, Katie’s mother Liz Edwards was remembered by pupils and teachers yeaterday at St Paul’s Primary School, Spalding, where the 49-year-old was a midday supervisor.
But headteacher Kira Nicholls said: “We have been advised by the police that we should not comment until they have gone through the formal identification process today.
“Once this is done, we will be pleased to provide a statement and tribute as soon as we can.”
