A motorist drove the wrong way down the A1 in Peterborough after allegedly missing her turning.

Anthony Dooner was driving northbound towards the Alwalton turning when he spotted the red Renault coming towards him in the outside lane.

Describing the shocking moment, which occurred at around 9.40am on Sunday, Anthony said: “This car come out of the Alwalton junction and started driving towards me. I drove head on towards the car with my main beams on to make her stop.

“I told her she was on the A1 and going the wrong way. She just looked at me blank. So I told her again she was going the wrong way, it’s not a two way road. And she said she missed her junction and was going back to get it.”
