Weather warning put in place for Sunday by Met Office

The Met Office have issued an ice warning for Peterborough as the big freeze continues.

The yellow weather warning is in place from 3am until 11am on Sunday (December 18).

The warning says: “A period of rain and snow mixed falling on frozen surfaces will lead to icy conditions causing some travel disruption.

“What to expect:

“Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces

“Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

“There is a chance that road, air and rail services could be disrupted or delayed.”

Sunday’s forecast sees temperatures rising to 8C by the end of the night – although it will feel like it is still below freezing until the afternoon.

Saturday will see temperatures reach 4C – although it will still feel sub-zero for most of the day.

It is a similar picture on Friday, when temperatures will reach 1C, but it will feel much colder.
