Peterborough man appears in court charged with attempted murder of 9-year-old boy

Faisal Khan (24) was charged by police with stabbing the child this morning. The attack is said to have happened on Saturday afternoon.
Khan, of Almond Road, Dogsthorpe, who was arrested at his home on Saturday, appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today, where he faced one charge of attempted murder, and one of possession of a knife in a public place.

Hide AdWearing a grey tracksuit, Khan listened intently to the short hearing.
He did not enter pleas to either charge and the case has been sent to Cambridge Crown Court for a hearing tomorrow.
Khan was remanded into custody by Deputy District Judge Olwen Davies, with no bail application being made.
Police were called at 3.24pm on Saturday by the ambulance service with reports the child had suffered multiple wounds to his head and face in Peveril Road, Peterborough.

Hide AdThe boy was initially taken to Peterborough City Hospital with what were described as ‘life changing injuries’ by police, before being transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where he remains in a stable condition.
The court heard the boy will need ‘ a number of surgeries’ following the incident.
