Teenager given football banning order after throwing smoke bomb during Peterborough United match against Shrewsbury
During a match against Shrewsbury Town Football Club on December 12 last year, Liam Fenton (18) of Watergall in Bretton, was arrested for possessing a firework/flare at a sporting event.
He was sentenced on Friday (April 1), at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court.

Hide AdThe banning order prevents Fenton from attending any football matches in the UK, as well as England matches abroad, for three years.
He will also be restricted from visiting specific areas of Peterborough during home games and going within five miles of the away matches.
He is also required to surrender his passport during Euro 2016.
PC Mark Wood said: “Smoke bombs and flares are extremely dangerous within football grounds.

Hide Ad“There is a high risk of causing a serious fire as the devices are designed to burn at high temperatures and be difficult to extinguish.
“This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable, and a three-year football banning order sends a clear message that incidents causing potential threat to public safety are treated very seriously.”
