A creative pupil helped a school win a top travel prize to help children arrive at class without harming the environment.

Jessica Parrish from Southfields School, Stanground, won a Scooterpod for her school and a goody bag for herself. The prizes were awarded after Jessica won a competition organised by Travelchoice which asked pupils across Peterborough’s primary schools to submit a design for the ‘transport of the future’. She was praised for her practical design and solution of a solar powered scooter.

Rebecca Presland, sustainable travel officer for Travelchoice said: “The competition was great fun and generated a lot of interest. The aim behind it was to encourage primary school pupils to think about the environmental issues connected to how we travel.”
