Hide AdRoadworks will affect Oundle Road (A605) between the Lynch Wood roundabout and the junction to Alwalton village, although the council said it will “endeavour to maintain two-way traffic flows”.
Improvements will include:
. Widening of Oundle Road to form a new traffic lane
. Reconfiguration of the Alwalton village junction to improve access
. New pedestrian crossing points
. A new footpath to the south side of the highway.
The project was originally forecast to cost £1.5 million, but costs rose by another £795,000 so the council had to request the extra money from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority to cover the increase.
Motorists will also face a new lane closure at Rhubarb Bridge for four weeks from Monday.

The council said: “This will enable barrier works within the island area of the roundabout to be undertaken.”
The ongoing works are seeing Rhubarb Bridge being repaired, while pedestrian crossings are being installed at the busy slip roads at the roundabout and an extra lane of traffic installed at the roundabout.
The scheme has been ongoing since January 2019 with a two month break over the Christmas period, resulting in lengthy delays for motorists.
The works are now expected to finish at the end of March after being pushed back.
