Operations manager Cameron Scott Thomas emphasised the importance of challenging misconceptions around food expiration.

He said: "Food doesn’t go from being edible to worthy of the skip at the strike of midnight. We hope to educate the population and save our community pounds off their shopping every week."

Originally starting as a market trader, Barry’s established its first branch in Halifax almost a decade ago and now extends its money-saving mission.
