Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed that Leeds United are interested in signing Marcus Maddison.

MacAnthony was a guest on TalkSport Radio today (January 22) when he made his revelation.

MacAnthony said; “Steve Evans (Leeds manager) is a big fan of Marcus. It’s up to his chairman now to back him.”

Maddison (22) moved to Posh from Gateshead for a reported £250k in August 2014. He’s scored 15 goals in 55 appearances (13 as a substitute) for Posh.

MacAnthony also revealed that Posh were offered West Ham’s highly-rated young midfielder Reece Oxford on loan earlier this month, but the club felt they had enough midfielders. The player is now expected to join a Championship club.

Oxford (17) has already made eight first-team appearances for West Ham.

Posh sold top scorer Conor Washington to QPR this week. They have also signed left-back Harry Toffolo, and strikers Shaq Coulthirst and Adil Nabi.

MacAnthony also suggested that two further deals to bring top talent from League Two to Posh had hit a stumbling block today.
