And Posh insist they have a replacement lined up should the 24 year-old leave London Road.
The PT asked stats and data expert James Mayhew (@ReportPosh on Twitter) to provide us with some likely, and realistic, candidates.
He’s found some with the numbers as a striker or as a wide attacking player that could interest Posh.
1.
MARCEL LEWIS (Chelsea): A 19 year-old at Chelsea who can play left-wing or as a second striker. He’s from Cambridge so makes sense geographically & his contract expires June 2021 & there must be a chance it won’t be renewed. Lewis is probably not the one currently being mentioned by Darragh MacAnthony though as not thought to be available now, but could be interesting in summer if he doesn’t get picked up by a Championship club. 2.
KWAME POKU (Colchester). If you’re looking at primarily recruiting a winger Poku would be my number one pick from League Two, although he hasn't played as a central striker before which might be an issue. Poku is 19 with 63 appearances and six goals for Colchester. (Photo by Jacques Feeney/Getty Images). Photo: Getty Images Europe
3.
JOE GREY (Hartlepool): I’m sure Posh will be monitoring Joe Grey (17) at Hartlepool, but it would be too early for him to come into the side. Grey has made nine appearances for Hartlepool so far, eight as a sub. Picture by Frank Reid.
4.
RYAN LONGMAN (Brighton): Ryan Longman is currently on loan at AFC Wimbledon from Brighton and would be a great loan option. He's a lively forward with five goals in 16 starts this season for a poor side. (Photo by Tom Dulat/Getty Images). Photo: Getty Images Europe
