Chris Porsz presents another in his series of ‘now and then’ photographs.

Chris said: “In 1983 brothers Paul and Ian Waumsley stopped for a McDonald’s drink on the Guildhall steps before going to a gig at the Golden Fleece in Westgate [later demolished to make way for the Queensgate shopping centre].”

“It was a Saturday afternoon and I think the McDonald’s had only just opened in Cathedral Square that week,” said Paul, who has two children, lived near Bourne and worked as a bus driver.

They now live in the Scottish borders, but unfortunately physical illnesses have left Paul with debilitating health conditions so he can no longer drive.

Ian, who lives in Stamford, said: “I worked for Anglian Water from 1980 and took early retirement back in 2019 which has given me more time to organise events and ride outs for the local South Lincolnshire Triumph Owners MCC, of which I am the chairman.

“It was great to meet the ‘mystery photographer’ again and the drinks were on Chris!”
