I love the picture which leads off this week’s selection from Chris Porsz.

It shows a packed Queensgate shopping centre at Christmas in the 80s which, as Chris points out, is in sharp contrast to today’s Covid blighted days.

Who remembers the fountains?

People used to throw coins in them and you can see a man in blue clothing fishing them out.

If you look closely at the left bottom quarter you can can see two men lighting up – something, of course, that is n’t allowed today.

And who remembers the shops? You can see K Shoes, Etam and British Home Stores.

Of the second picture Chris said: “I am really struggling to find the young lad playing the cornet as I would love to get him and the Sally Army back to Bridge Street 40 years later for my book Reunions the sequel.’’

The final picture is a shot of Cathedral Square in the days when there were several trees at Christmas.

Chris added: “My tribute and thanks to my beloved NHS can be seen in my book Just Be Kind and is available from my website with part proceeds to Breast Cancer Research.”
