Charity shops get council backing
South Kesteven District Council is asking people across the area not to use recycling bins or clear bags anymore for clothing and textiles.
Recycling firms holding contracts with the district council have said that clothing was no longer suitable to be mixed in with other recyclable materials for sorting at their processing plants.

Hide AdIan Yates, executive manager for the environment, said: “We are grateful for the thousands of residents who, in recent years, have diligently recycled clothes and shoes, helping us to maintain our good recycle rates.
“However, we are now asking householders to take clothes and shoes to charitable retail outlets or use the recycling points at household waste and recycling sites.
“This will help us continue to recycle these items and keep South Kesteven clean.”
