Child hands over pocket money as Peterborough primaries raise hundreds of pounds for vandalised Ferry Meadows
Little Owen from Brewster Avenue Infant and Nursery School helped the school raise £235.32 from a non-uniform day which will support the Nene Park Trust in its restoration of the country park.
Head teacher Alison Smith said: “Most of our families access Ferry Meadows at weekends or evening, so we showed the children photos last week of the damage that had been done, and the children were really shocked.
“They were most shocked at the memorial benches.

“The original target for the non-uniform day was £200, and the children were really excited when we got over that.”
Old Fletton Primary also handed over a cheque of more than £540 to the Nene Park Trust after also holding a non-uniform day.
The vandalism at Ferry Meadows has seen trees, play equipment and fences damaged by saws and memorial benches destroyed, with memorials thrown into the lakes.
