Man arrested after crash outside Peterborough supermarket

A man has been arrested following a crash outside a Peterborough supermarket.

The crash happened on Whittlesey Road near Aldi at 3pm yesterday (Thursday).

It was reported the Astra collided with a lamppost. Emergency services were called to the scene as there were reports one person was trapped - although a spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said while they were called, they were not needed at the scene.

A police spokesman said one person was arrested, but others made off on foot.
