Man jailed after being caught carrying a knife when he travelled to Peterborough to buy drugs.

Omari Lauder, 21, from Wolverhampton, was locked up for more than a year after pleading guilty to possession of a knife - his fourth conviction involving weapons.
Peterborough Crown Court heard Lauder was seen by neighbourhood policing officers to be acting suspiciously in the Eastfield area of Peterborough on 24 November last year (2020).

Hide AdOfficers approached Lauder to speak with him, however he ran off and was seen to be carrying a large kitchen knife in one of his hands.
He threw the knife onto the ground while being chased, however officers caught up with him and found him to be in possession of cannabis and two wraps of heroin.
Lauder, of Harper Road in Willenhall, admitted offences of possession of a knife in a public place, possession of heroin and possession of cannabis.
On Monday (26 April) he appeared at Peterborough Crown Court where he was sentenced to a year and one month in prison for the knife offence, and one month each for possession of the drugs. All three sentences will run alongside each other.

Hide AdPC Lianna Bell, who investigated, said: “Regardless of the reason Lauder gave for carrying a knife, it is an illegal act which could have ended in a very different investigation had it have been used.
“This is Lauder’s fourth conviction for possession of weapons, which is reflected in the custodial sentence given by the judge.”
