NEWBORNS: The baby brids nesting inside the ashtray
Every mother knows that smoking is bad for her babies...well every human mother.

But maybe somebody should have told this mother bird who has made a nest for her newborns in the ashtray of a block of flats in Peterborough.

Eagle-eyed resident Andrew Stevens spotted the mother bird flitting in and out of the ashtray attached to the flats in Emperor Way in Fletton about a month ago.

Upon realising that she had laid eggs in the receptacle, he informed other residents not to use the ashtray and put a label on the exterior to warn visitors.

And now it’s full of life, as at least five new born birds have made themselves at home inside.
