LOCAL FOOTBALL: Moulton march on as Whittlesey pay a penalty
As they were extending their fantastic playing record to 19 wins and a draw from 20 games with a 3-1 success at Thorney, the team expected to challenge them most strongly for the title, Whittlesey Athletic, were losing 1-0 at home to Pinchbeck.
Moulton are now three points clear of second-placed Peterborough Sports Reserves who enjoyed a Friday night (March 11) 4-1 success at Deeping Rangers Reserves.

Hide AdJoe Townsend (2) and Billy King scored the Moulton goals after Thorney had battled hard to be level at half-time.
Tony Edwards scored the only goal of the game for Pinchbeck from the penalty spot in the second-half after a foul on Nick Bishop.
Sports’ scorers were George Edwards, Dan Fountain, Damien Ramm and Ryan Wood. Sports host Whittlesey on Saturday (March 19) before entertaining Moulton in a re-arranged game at PSL the following Tuesday (March 22).
Pinchbeck are fourth and host fifth-placed Ketton next weekend.

Hide AdThere was a stormy game at Langtoft where the home side had Jake Duffy sent off and five other players cautioned by young referee Ryan Allison in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of AFC Stanground. Sam Cross, Martyn Fox and Daniel Stephens scored for the city side. Duffy had netted for Langtoft before his dismissal for collecting two yellow cards, the second for persistent fouling.
Crowland collected another creditable point from a 1-1 home draw with Stilton United. Connah Hunt scored for the home side with Richie Baines equalising for Stilton after the break.
Josh Ford scored twice as Holbeach Reserves eased to a 3-0 home success over Uppingham Town.
In Division One leaders Stamford Lions enjoyed a 7-1 romp at lowly ICA Sports Reserves. Rob Forster scored twice with Ryan Brown, Thomas Edwards, Sean O’Donnell, Danny Sheehan and Jake Walton also on target.
