Pompey put out a heavily weakened team, but you can only beat what’s put in front of you and Posh did that impressively to reach the quarter-finals.
Former Pompey player Nathan Thompson was the PT’s man-of-the-match.
Ratings: 10-Perfect, 9-Outstanding, 8-Very Good, 7-Good, 6-Okay, 5-Poor, 4-Very poor.
1.
CHRISTY PYM: Misjudged an early cross which should have led to a goal, but made a terrific tip over save soon afterwards. A comfortable evening otherwise 6.5
2.
FRANKIE KENT: The Pompey back-up front two were a handful and Kent was occasionally turned too easily. Bundled home a set-piece goal and played strongly in the second-half 7.
3.
NATHAN THOMPSON: Looked a class act in the heart of the Posh back three. Very calm and composed in possession and brought the ball out of defence to start attacks very well. Defended solidly 8.
4.
MARK BEEVERS: He looks comfortable enough on the left side of the back three. Not getting exposed for pace. Distribution is erratic. 6
