A community event for young people and families to get a taste of different sports and activities proved quite a draw.

Friends of Central Park and Living Sport partnered to coordinate Activate@Central taster day at Peterborough’s Central Park last Saturday, with the aim to encourage people to try new sports and be active, whilst also making use of the fantastic surroundings of the park.

Almost 1,000 people turned up.

The new multi-sport space funded by Sport England, the National Lottery and Living Sport was used for pickleball and basketball demonstrations.

Steve Harknett, secretary of Friends of Central Park, commented: “More sports and activity-providers participated compared to last year, which shows the popularity of the format.”
